UK Heatwave: How to purchase an Air Con Restock Before It Sells Out

Portable air conditioners are sold out across Argos, Currys, AO and Meaco as the UK hits its third heatwave of 2026. Restock windows are lasting minutes, not hours. Confirmed pricing, the stockists nobody is watching, and how to set Pinger up to catch a unit.

The UK is in its third heatwave of the year and every decent air conditioner in the country is gone.

If you have spent the past week refreshing product pages and getting nowhere, you are not doing it wrong. You are just turning up about four minutes late.

Here is the bit nobody outside the drop scene has properly clocked yet. Air con has stopped being a shopping trip. It is a drop. Same mechanics, same unannounced restock windows, same outcome for anyone still hitting refresh by hand.

The Stock Situation, Plainly

Every major stockist is dry.

  • Argos has cleared its portable range

  • Currys is showing out of stock across the Meaco listings

  • Meaco's own site is sold out, with no pre-orders and no reservations

  • Aircare, the UK importer for the Meaco brand, has gone to backorder

  • John Lewis has flipped the MeacoCool MC Series Pro over to an email-when-available button

The demand numbers explain it. Currys reported fan sales up nearly 3,000% across a single weekend during June's heat, with portable air conditioner sales up 330%. One installer went from a normal 30 enquiries a week to 900.

That is a supply squeeze, not a permanent sell-out. Which means restocks.

Restock Windows Are Shorter Than Most Sneaker Drops

This is the part that should get your attention.

Retailers have not written air con off for the summer. They are taking small batches in, several times a week and sometimes daily, and pushing them live with no announcement whatsoever.

Those windows are measured in minutes. One tracked example: a Meaco Pro 16000 landed at a major UK retailer at 5:29am and was gone by 5:43am. Fourteen minutes, at a price above its usual, and it still cleared.

And every retailer replenishes on its own schedule. AO might get a Meaco in on a Tuesday morning while Currys gets the same unit Thursday afternoon. Watching one store is a coin flip. Watching all of them is the game changer.

Where the Stock Actually Lands

The obvious four are Meaco direct, AO, Currys and Argos. Everybody is watching those, which is exactly why they are the hardest to win.

However there are dozens of other stockists out there, many of which are lesser known and therefore are much easier to be successful on. Half the country is sat refreshing Currys. Almost nobody is watching a niche independent stockist.

Except for us.

What to Target, and Confirmed Pricing

Meaco is the brand everyone has read to buy, which is precisely why it evaporates first. If you can catch one, these are the confirmed UK prices:

  • MeacoCool MC Series Pro 9000: £369

  • MeacoCool MC Series Pro 10000: £399.99

  • MeacoCool Cirro 12000, cooling only: £659

  • MeacoCool Cirro 12000, cooling and heating: £699

The Cirro is the new 2026 unit and the one to want. Meaco has it running at 45dB in Super Quiet mode on a dual-wrapped compressor, which is roughly half the noise of their previous portables, with app, Alexa and Google control on top. On running cost, Meaco quotes the Pro 10000 at around 15p an hour.

Match the BTU to the room rather than chasing the biggest number on the box. A 9000 unit handles a standard double bedroom. You want 12000 and up for open-plan living space.

Setting Pinger Up for This

This is exactly what Pinger was built for, just pointed at a different category.

Millisecond monitoring across every stockist that matters, and an instant push alert the second stock flips live. Not an email an hour later, by which point the window has closed and the unit is on eBay. A push, immediately, while you can still check out.

Keyword setup:

  • Brand level: "MeacoCool", "Meaco"

  • Model level: "MC,Series,Pro,9000", "MC,Series,Pro,10000", "Cirro,12000"

  • Category level: "portable,air,con"

Job done. You'll hit a restock with ease the next time your phone vibrates.

The Resale Angle

Yes, there is one, and you can see it in the fact that units are restocking above retail and still selling out in minutes.

Play it sensibly, though. UKHSA has amber heat health alerts running across large parts of England, and that language exists because of genuine risk to vulnerable people. Cop for yourself, cop for family, cop spares. Just do not be the guy gouging a pensioner over a bedroom unit. There is a version of this that makes you money and a version that makes you a headline.

The Bottom Line

Air con is a drop now, and it is one of the softest fields you will ever monitor. Sold out everywhere, restocking in unannounced windows, spread across dozens of stockists on completely different schedules, with a wave of brand-new demand from people who have never had to cop anything in their lives and are still refreshing tabs by hand.

Full Peachy Pings coverage of restock activity across every UK air con stockist will be live across the community for as long as this heat holds. We simply make it easy for you.
